Student Attire

Distribution of previously purchased caps and gowns will take place on Wednesday, June 5th, from 9:00 am to 10:45 am in the Food Court.  Valedictorians will be able to exchange their black gown for a white one at this time.  Recommended graduation attire for students includes any of the following:  a collared shirt, with or without tie, a blouse, nice pants, afternoon dress or skirt.  Jeans, shorts, t-shirts, hats and flip-flop sandals are inappropriate and unacceptable for a dignified graduation ceremony.  Cell phones, cameras, flowers/leis, purses, water bottles and any other items are not permitted during the student line-up or graduation ceremony.  Water will be available during line up. Cap and gowns, may NOT be altered in anyway, including no decorations on graduation caps.

Students CANNOT wear high-heeled shoes during the ceremony; the heels of such shoes easily sink into the artificial turf of the field and are a serious tripping hazard.

Etiquette

Graduates will enter the stadium in an orderly manner and will remain seated during most of the ceremony.   Our goal is to allow each and every graduate their moment in the spotlight as they cross the stage and their name is announced.  It is expected that graduates refrain from talking to other classmates during the presentation of diplomas.  Noisy or visual distractions can obviously detract from the celebration of each graduate.  Noise-makers, signs, fireworks, beach balls, or other distractions are prohibited anywhere in the stadium, as these are distractions and/or prevent each graduate’s name from being heard.

Students violating graduation policies will be removed to a restricted area and released to a parent following the ceremony.  In such situations, the diploma will be withheld pending a parent/administrator conference.

Outstanding Fines

Seniors must return all outstanding books to the library and take care of any library debts prior to June 5th, which is the day they will pick up their caps and gowns.

Graduation Information

We proudly celebrate the Class of 2019 at Aliso Niguel High School in our Wolverine Stadium on Thursday, June 6th, 2019, beginning promptly at 5:00 pm and lasting approximately 90 minutes.

Student Schedule

A mandatory graduation rehearsal will be held in the stadium starting promptly at 9:00 am on Thursday, June 6th.  SENIORS WILL FIRST REPORT TO THE BASEBALL FIELD BEHIND THE STADIUM AT 9:00 AM TO LINE UP IN PROCESSIONAL ORDER BEFORE PROCEEDING TO THE STADIUM FOR THE REHEARSAL.  Seniors must be present at the rehearsal in order to walk in the afternoon ceremony.  Seniors should bring their cap and gown to the rehearsal, as Simonson Photography will take a panoramic picture of the senior class immediately following the rehearsal.  Students must arrive promptly for both the graduation rehearsal and final ceremony.

Student Parking

For graduation, students are REQUIRED to park at the Chet Holifield “Ziggurat” Building, located at 24000 Avila, Laguna Niguel.  Shuttle busses will transport graduates from the Chet Holifield parking lot to the high school starting at 2:45 pm and up to 3:45 pm.  Graduates must report to the baseball field no later than 4:00 pm for the processional lineup.  Once again, students MUST be on time.

Complimentary Tickets & Additional Ticket Sales

Based on our permanent stadium seating, we can accommodate five (5) guests per graduate, thus, every senior will receive five (5) complimentary tickets.   However, we will be able to bring in additional temporary seating.  Families that will require more than the complimentary five (5) tickets will have the opportunity to purchase additional tickets for $10.00 each.  Additional tickets will be available for purchase from April 15th through May 24th at our Activities window (not online), and can only be purchased by 2019 ANHS seniors with a current ANHS ID card.  The tickets will be on sale before school, during lunch, and after school until 3:00 pm.  There is a limit of ten (10) additional tickets per student. Funds from the additional ticket sales will help offset the costs incurred for the rental of the additional chairs, fencing and security.  This process will allow us to accommodate a larger number of guests while providing a safe, orderly and dignified ceremony.  All tickets will be given to ANHS seniors on June 5th during cap and gown distribution held in our Food Court from 9:00 am to 10:45 am.

Seating

All seats in the stadium will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, and in the spirit of fairness, parents are respectfully asked to refrain from saving seats.  The stadium gates will open at 3:30 pm for all guests.  Please do not plan on lining up at the stadium prior to 3:00 pm, as all ticketed guests will have a seat. Please also remember that we are a closed campus and that school will be in session for the last day of classes.

Handicapped Seating

Please respect the roped-off handicapped sections. To maximize room, only one (1) caretaker is permitted to remain with each handicapped guest.   All handicapped guests and their companion will require a ticket. Please note that the ceremony will be taking place outdoors, in early-June, and the weather will likely be very hot and in direct sunlight.  Please plan accordingly.

Parent/Visitor Field Access

Parents and guests are not allowed access to the graduates once they enter the baseball field or throughout the ceremony.  Following the ceremony, graduates will proceed to the baseball field to pick up their diploma inserts.  Parents and guests should plant to meet graduates at the front of the stadium near the softball field area.

Diplomas

As each senior’s name is called, they will receive a diploma cover. Following the ceremony, the actual diplomas will be distributed at the baseball field.  Graduates who will not be participating in the ceremony may pick-up their diplomas from their Academic Advisor on Friday, June 7th.   The Guidance Office is open from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.  However, please call the office first to verify they will be available during the time you wish to come.

Class of 2019
Access to the school

In an effort to better control traffic, and per the recommendation of the Sheriff’s Department, on graduation day there will be no traffic access to Wolverine Way from Aliso Creek or Aliso Viejo Parkway from 4:00 pm until 6:30 pm.  In addition, there will be no right hand turn from Wolverine Way onto Aliso Creek, in order to accommodate pedestrian traffic.  These changes will impact those who want to pick up family members after the ceremony.  Entrance back into the area can be accessed from westbound Pacific Park onto southbound Deerhurst.  Remember; please be patient as you are exiting the school!

We know that as parents of graduating seniors, you appreciate the need for a serious approach in conducting this very special event.  Graduation ceremonies are a wonderful celebration and a privilege.  It is truly a special time to recognize our high school graduates.

Parking

ANHS has a very large graduating class and an extremely large crowd is expected.  Parking and traffic congestion are always a challenge; therefore, an early arrival is highly recommended.

The stadium parking lot entrance is reserved for handicapped or special health needs parking.  For people with special health needs who may not have handicapped placards, please park in the stadium parking lot, and golf cart shuttles will be available to help transport our guests.  You may also drop off elderly guests by the stadium entrance.

Parents are strongly encouraged to park at the Chet Holifield “Ziggurat” Building.  Shuttle busses will be available to transport guests from the Chet Holifield Building to the school from 2:45 pm to 4:45 pm and back immediately following the graduation ceremony.  Additionally, there is an easy foot trail to the Chet Holifield Building.  The foot trail enters the school at the southern end of campus.  Limited parent parking is also available behind the portables or in the staff parking lot.  Limousine and Uber drop off will be in front of the main gym.

Please note that those parked in the stadium lot will ONLY be allowed to exit northbound onto Deerhurst. Those parked in the teachers’ parking lot will use the Wolverine Way gate at the bottom of the cul-de-sac.
