Graduation 2020

mandatory rehearsal

This year, we will be changing our seating format to be in alignment with the rest of our CUSD high schools and compliant with district guidelines.  We will no longer be assigning students seats; students will be able to choose where they sit with their friends/classmates on a first-come, first-served basis--regardless of robe color. On the morning of rehearsal, Thursday, June 4th, students must report to the baseball field to pick up their name card starting at 8:30 a.m.  They will then be able to select their seat on the field. Rehearsal will start promptly at 9:00 a.m.  Seniors must be present at the rehearsal in order to walk in the afternoon ceremony.

PANORAMIC PHOTO

Seniors should bring their cap and gown to the rehearsal, as Simonson Photography will take a panoramic picture of the senior class immediately following the rehearsal.  Students must be on time for both the graduation rehearsal and ceremony.

Outstanding Fines

Seniors must clear any and all debt to our school. They must return all outstanding books to the library and take care of any library/school debts prior to June 3rd, which is the day they will pick up their caps and gowns.

Parent/Visitor Field Access

Parents and guests are not allowed access to the graduates once they enter the baseball field or during the ceremony.  Following the ceremony, graduates will proceed to the baseball field to pick up their diploma inserts.  Parents and guests should plan to meet graduates at the front of the stadium near the softball field area.

Student Etiquette

Graduates are expected to enter the stadium in an orderly manner and will remain seated during most of the ceremony.   Our goal is to allow each and every graduate their moment in the spotlight as their name is announced and they cross the stage.  It is our expectation that graduates refrain from talking to other classmates during the presentation of diplomas.  Noisy or visual distractions can obviously detract from the celebration of each graduate.  Noise-makers, signs, fireworks, beach balls, or other distractions are prohibited anywhere in the stadium. Students violating graduation policies will be removed to a restricted area and released to a parent following the ceremony.  In such situations, the diploma will be withheld pending a parent/administrator conference.

Senior Schedule
Student Attire

Distribution of previously purchased caps and gowns will take place on Wednesday, June 3rd, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in the Food Court.  Valedictorians will be able to exchange their black gown for a white gown at this time.

Recommended graduation attire for students includes any of the following:  a collared shirt, with or without tie, a blouse, nice pants, dress, or skirt.

Wedge shoes and/or flat soles are required.  Students CANNOT wear high-heeled shoes during the ceremony; the heels of such shoes easily sink into the artificial turf of the field and are a serious tripping hazard.

Jeans, shorts, t-shirts, hats, and flip-flop sandals are not appropriate.

Caps and gowns may NOT be altered in any way. Decorated caps are not permitted.

Cell phones, cameras, flowers/leis, purses, water bottles and any other items are not permitted during the student line-up or graduation ceremony-leave them with a family member.  Water will be available during line up.

Seating

All seats in the stadium will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, and, in the spirit of fairness, parents are respectfully asked to refrain from saving seats.  The stadium gates will open at 3:30 p.m. for all guests.  Please do not plan on lining up at the stadium prior to 3:00 p.m., as all ticketed guests will have a seat. Please remember that we are a closed campus, and school will be in session for the last day of classes.

The roped-off sections on the field are for disabled persons. To maximize room, only one (1) caretaker is permitted to remain with each disabled person. Each disabled guest and his/her companion will require a ticket. Please note that the ceremony will take place outdoors, and plan accordingly for weather changes. Those seated on the field will potentially be in direct sunlight.

Diplomas

As each senior’s name is called, they will receive a diploma cover. Following the ceremony, the actual diplomas will be distributed at the baseball field.  Graduates who will not be participating in the ceremony may pick-up their diplomas from their Academic Advisor on Friday, June 6th.   The Guidance Office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  However, please call the office first to verify that someone will be available during the time you wish to come. If you have borrowed a cap, gown, and/or tassel from our school, we will hand you your diploma at the time you return your borrowed items.

graduation tickets

Every senior will receive five (5) complimentary tickets.   Families who require more than the complimentary five (5) tickets will have the opportunity to purchase up to ten (10) additional tickets for $10.00 each with cash or a debit/credit card from April 13th through May 25th at our Activities window and online by 2020 ANHS seniors with a current ANHS ID card.
