ASB Job Descriptions

DUTIES OF ASB COMMISSIONERS (Article 6 in Constitution

  1. ASB Commissioner of Academic Relations shall:
    1. Be directly responsible for the coordination of a one academic event in conjunction with the commissioners of pep, video and audio; draft a final script two weeks prior to each Academic Rally.
    2. Be directly responsible for all aspects of the "Student of the Semester" program. Coordinate with ANHS staff to complete this duty.
    3. Establish new traditions centered on promoting academic achievement at Aliso Niguel, and coordinate and develop new ways to increase pride in academics.
    4. Meet with interested faculty and administration to set goals for each school year for promoting and honoring academic achievement.

 

  1. ASB Commissioner of Activities shall:
    1. Be directly responsible for the Clash of the Classes during lunch and at assemblies. Coordinate with the class officers to meet this duty.
    2. Coordinate and plan all activities associated with the Homecoming Game and Half-time Show.
    3. Work together with the Class Presidents to develop class floats, and ensure productivity from each class.
    4. Generally responsible for the Aliso Niguel Car Show or other events of this nature.

 

  1. ASB Commissioner of Athletics shall: (possible 2 positions)
    1. Arrange and maintain a spirited intramural athletic program and run a program often. Examples of programs to implement are dodgeball, ping pong tournaments, basketball, Provide an overview plan to the Activities Director for the intramural athletic program before the first day of school.
    2. Develop a system to monitor the athletic information that is publicized through ASB channels including the school website, newsletters, marquee, posters, and news releases, making sure the information is accurate and each sport is given adequate representation. Submit well in advance dates, times, and places of significant athletic events to the ASB Secretary for the wall calendar.
    3. Work with the Commissioner of Pep and coaches in arranging the participation of athletic teams at pep rallies.  
    4. Be responsible for maintaining an Athlete of the Month for boys’ and girls’ sports.  Devise a system of obtaining the names of the athletes and reasons for nomination.  Publish certificates and distribute to the selected athletes.
    5. Arrange for ASB members to attend one event for every sport.

 

  1. ASB Commissioner of Arts shall:
    1. Be directly responsible for coordinating publicity for the fine arts programs at Aliso Niguel High School.  Programs include, but are not limited to, drama, choir, band, photography, dance, and two-dimensional art.
    2. Arrange for ASB members to attend two different productions for each fine arts program.
    3. Be responsible for coordinating “Night of the Arts.”

 

  1. ASB Commissioner(s) of Audio shall:
    1. Be responsible for managing, monitoring, and maintaining all tech equipment that is owned and operated by ASB.  Develop a strategy to meet this duty and aggressively implement it.
    2. Aid interested members of ASB in the use the technical equipment.
    3. Be responsible for the production of all audio needs for ASB sponsored events including the production of all videos for pep rallies, halftime shows and the senior send-off.
    4. Be directly responsible for the set-up, running, and clean-up of all technical equipment for all ASB sponsored events and activities.
    5. Be directly responsible for the production of music and other audio and technical needs for special events.
    6. Maintain and keep clean the workroom, cage, and other storage areas.

 

  1. ASB Commissioner of Clubs shall:
    1. Be directly responsible for all campus clubs and organizations. This duty includes the updating of official records, maintaining membership information, keeping files current, tracking club activity and acting as a liaison between campus organizations and ASB.
    2. Work with the ASB Treasurer to assist campus clubs with fundraising efforts and the proper accounting of student body funds.
    3. Keep a calendar of all activities of campus clubs.
    4. Be directly responsible for Club Rush and Multicultural Fair.
    5. Be directly responsible for all aspects of Multi-Cultural Week. Place the desired week on the calendar before the beginning of the school year. Present a plan of events to the Activities Director.
    6. Communicate with all club presidents and publicize meetings and dates.
    7. Communicate and help Activities Director and ASB Finance Clerk with the handling of clubs accounts.

 

  1. ASB Commissioner of Community Relations shall:
    1. Act as liaison between the community and the school in all activities. Seek the necessary information from the commissioners of Publicity, Marketing, Club and Campus Organizations, Athletics, and any other applicable commissioners.
    2. Be directly responsible for getting donations from any businesses outside of school.
    3. Act as liaison between the ASB Student Council and PTSA. Maintain working relationship with PTSA. This duty includes attendance and participation of the class representatives at PTSA meetings and writing articles on behalf of ASB for the PTSA newsletter
    4. Act as liaison between the community and the school in all activities. Provide the news media with information via e-mail or phone when necessary.
    5. Be a force that makes the community aware of ASB events, as well as including our class in any community sponsored events.
    6. Assist greatly on events such as Back to School Night and 8th Grade Parent Night

 

  1. ASB Commissioner of Digital Media and Communications shall:
    1. Be directly responsible for updating the Aliso Niguel website including, but not limited to the school calendar and uploading school information.
    2. Assist the Commissioner of Clubs and Campus Organizations in making it possible for students to join and learn more about clubs online.
    3. Work with the Commissioner of Publicity to publicize events online.
    4. Learn from and support ASB Finance Clerk with Point of Sales system.
    5. Be directly responsible for documenting all ANHS events/Activities via any form of digital media.
    6. Assist ASB Audio Video Technicians to document and produce on campus events.
    7. Read the daily announcements over the loud speaker every day at the beginning of tutorial or establish a creative way to do announcements.
    8. Manage and update all Aliso Niguel social media outlets including but not limited to Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, and Facebook pages and develop a system for clubs to request posting with help from publicity commissioner.

 

  1. ASB Commissioner of Marketing shall:
    1. Be responsible for creating a marketing plan for ASB
    2. Establish new designs for Aliso Niguel merchandise for the school to profit from.
    3. Assist the commissioner of publicity in the marketing and publicity of all ASB activities and events including dances, pep rallies, class competitions, special events, and athletics.
    4. Assist the commissioner of publicity in the management and maintenance of the publicity/marketing supplies owned by ASB.
    5. Assist the commissioner of publicity in the maintaining and keeping clean of the publicity room in the ASB Room.
    6. Be directly responsible for the design of ASB clothing and other miscellaneous ASB items as directed by ASB members, and/or the ASB Director.

 

  1. ASB Commissioner of Pep shall: (2 positions)
    1. Be directly responsible for all aspects of the production of pep rallies and assemblies.
    2. Hold pep rally act auditions in a timely manner prior to each Pep Rally in order to be approved by administration.
    3. Draft a final script two weeks prior to each Pep Rally.
    4. Uphold Aliso Niguel High School traditions and establish new ones where appropriate.
    5. Coordinate and develop new ways to increase school spirit at all school events and sporting events, including choosing and utilizing the school mascots.

 

  1. ASB Commissioner of Philanthropy shall:(up to 2 positions)
    1. Be directly responsible for all aspects of every charitable event.
    2. Organize and coordinate all public service activities including inclusivity week, blood drives, ribbon week(s), food and coin drives, MLK Day, or other drives as determined by current student council with assistance from appropriate clubs.
    3. Be directly responsible for creating opportunities for service, as well as a wide variety of informational and educational activities for students to participate in.
    4. Connect students with wellness resources in conjunction with the publicity commissioner

 

  1. ASB Commissioner of Publicity shall:
    1. Be directly responsible for the effective marketing and publicity of all ASB activities and events including dances, pep rallies, class competitions, special events, and athletics.
    2. Be directly responsible for the accuracy of all publicized information by ASB with the ASB President, the ASB Secretary and the Activities Director to develop a system whereby publicity information is transferred accurately and timely to the Commissioners of Athletics for sports information, Community Relations for communications to local newspapers, media and newsletter information, and the Class Presidents for distribution to the classes.
    3. Be directly responsible for the management and maintenance of the publicity/marketing supplies owned by ASB. This includes developing a system whereby groups can borrow supplies, keeping an accurate inventory of supplies, and ordering supplies when necessary.
    4. Coordinate with the commissioner of Digital Media to assist in developing and managing a system for clubs to request posting.
    5. Maintain and keep clean the publicity room in the ASB Room.

 

  1. ASB Commissioner of Special Events shall:
    1. Be directly responsible for all aspects of school dances including the Homecoming Dance, Winter Formal, and the Spring Dance. (or any other dances apart from Prom)
    2. Coordinate and plan all activities associated with the Homecoming Dance.
    3. Aid the junior class president and representative with Prom organization and preparation.
    4. Assist publicity with advertising for the dances and come up with advertising strategies in order to make the dance information public.

 

  1. ASB Commissioner of Staff Relations shall:
    1. Attend a PTSA meeting at least once per semester and give a report.
    2. Be directly responsible for all aspects of Teacher and Staff Appreciation including Teacher Appreciation week, tailgates, beginning of year breakfast, Secret Pals and Secretaries Day.
    3. Work with the Activities Director to coordinate the Esprit de Wolverine Awards.
    4. Attend and actively participate in committees determined necessary by the Activities Director.

 

  1. ASB Commissioner of Internal Relations shall:
    1. Work directly with the Activities Director and ASB Vice President on grading, job duty lists, and any other reports needed by Activities Director.
    2. Develop and plan ASB class bonding activities and events either off or on campus.
    3. Help organize the ASB room(s) to make them efficient and clean
    4. Speak with individual team members if they are not working on assigned duties, and report to ASB president and/or Activities Director with any concerns.
    5. Help take attendance in the Secretary’s absence.
    6. Work on special projects when asked by members from Executive Council and/or Activities Director.
       
  2. ASB Commissioner(s) of Video shall:
